DVDs are dying
That's not what the latest mea culpa email from Netflix says, explicitly, but it is how I read it. Why? Because they have been in business since 1997 shipping DVDs, only got into the streaming business in the last few years, but now, with the name change of the DVD side of the business ("Qwikster?" Really?) they are taking all the "good will" (if there's any left after the past few months) and brand recognition in their name and keeping it on the streaming side and renaming the DVD side of the business.

Yep, I'm done. Right now we can't get Amazon on our tv (our blu-ray player only has Netflix and Cinema now), so it's time for a Roku box or something; nix the Netflix.
What do you use? Do you get Amazon on your tv, or just the computer? If you get it on tv, what method do you use? Do you know anything about antennas to get local OTA stations?
Our Blu-Ray (Sony) player does Amazon. Have you tried updating your player's firmware?
We signed up for one of those discounted/heavily rebated cheap digital TV antennas during the conversion, but never use it. It's there solely for emergencies (the Internet tends to melt down during REAL news emergencies).
Yeah we just updated the firmware. We have cable and are looking to get off of it (and Netflix). We would still need some way to get local channels, so I'm looking at antennas to pick up the OTA, and then a Roku box or something to go with it. Or maybe buy a new blu-ray player that has more features.
How handy is your husband or son? I was thinking at one point of building my own digital TV antenna. Looks pretty easy, actually:

Ooh, and I just realized how sexist that sounded. So, how handy are YOU? :)
Ha, that WAS really sexist, but in this case, entirely appropriate. This chick rocks the dishes and laundry, but not so much a hammer. :)
I'll check out those articles, because I'm really interested in the capabilities of an antenna. Especially here since all the local channels here are within 2 degrees of each other from my house.
(And that's the latest from the department of redundancy department. :)
