Whither the church?

Or is that "Wither the church?" You have to wonder in light of Nathan's excellent post and pointer to a video making the rounds. I can't say it any better than he can so just go read what he has to say and watch the video in that context (or any context you want).

Did you mean "whether"? had me all confused about that one...

There's a new emergent church group starting up 'round these parts. I'm curious what that will be like since the guy who's I guess instrumental in it seems to be a big techie geek sort-of guy as well.

I didn't mention this in my comment, but it seems a few of such church families like that don't really start a website - they just start a blog. Only thing is that they really don't post to it alot, which is kind-of sad. On that same note, I found a Mens Ministry blog (but not really since they didn't support RSS and apparently it isn't a blog at all but they called it blog... you know what I mean, right?) from our Ohio church. And I emailed the guy who heads it and asked him all about why they don't support RSS and have a true blog and what not. They were interested in doing that, but someone wanted to make sure they sure the content was OK - which in some ways is almost totally backwards. But then again, I'm not in church leadership. I'd rather everyone totally able to comment and even post. I think that'd be just dandy if people did that....

What is up with these word verification letters!?! They're getting crazy...

Chris:

whither (adv.) - to what place, result, or condition: Whither are we wandering?

wither (v.) - lose freshness, vigor, or vitality

Of course, "whether" could work in my post as a third option, too. :o)

Word verification is getting bad because the bots are figuring it out. But you read Coding Horror, I believe, so you already knew that. But I may turn it off, since I have registration required turned on. I have gotten three spam comments since I have started this thing, each was easy enough to delete.

(Note: I posted this comment re: your column on seven-letter word that rhymes with "as - whole" before I realized it was an old post. So I'm just resending it on the post you left today. Thanks. Of, funny story. When our 3rd son was little he came into the house protesting that his older brother had called him an a-hole. So we called our older son in to extract a deposition. "Did you call your brother an a-hole?" my husband inquired. Our son started laughing. "No, Dad. I told him he was a HASSLE!")

Here's my original comment.

I just happened across your blog this morning when I was trying to find that saying about "Dear Lord, today has been a good day. I haven't cussed or stolen or lost my temper, but I'm going to get out of bed now and then I'm really going to need your help.

I just wrote a column (I write for a very small paper in Kansas, but also post it on my blog) titled, "A Better Way." I can so relate to your writings. Sometimes, as a Christian, when I blow it (again!) I feel like, "Who do you think you're kidding?" But God forgives and forgets and He wants me to do the same. THANK YOU for being a real Christian - and by that, I don't mean "true" but genuine. It gives flawed vessels like me hope that God is not diminished in the least by my failure to allow Him to shine fully through me each and every day.
Here's a link to my latest column. www.reflections-eileen.blogspot.com
Thanks again.
