Our money where our mouth is

I was struck by the following from the Missio Dei Breviary (h.t. Missional Church Network). I think it's "right on the money" (pun intended). You?

Closing Prayer

Sovereign God, everything we have belongs to you. May we use what we have to bless others and woo people into the Kingdom, rather than for our own comfort and ease. Bless us so that we may bless others. If we do not bless others, take our resources from us and give them to those who will bless others.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

This is a scary one - which is usually an indication to me that Jesus would like it, since He was never a big fan of comfort and safety.

I absolutely agree with it, but I'm way too much of a coward to actually pray it and mean it.

I'd like to get to a place where I could wholeheartedly pray it. But I'm not there.

The "woo people into the Kingdom" just rings oddly to me though.... is it just me?

CH,

I understand completely. Neither am I. But I want to be. So working on getting to the point where I CAN pray this and mean it is near the top of my list now.

Chris,

It struck me a bit odd, too, but I think that's mostly a word choice thing. I believe we are to "woo" people, though - through our actions, not our words. "They shall know we are Christians by our love". We certainly can't force people to Christ. Nor is that our job anyway.
