Competitive

In the class I am taking they have "code challenges". This is the third such class I've been in with these. I didn't win either of the first two times. Now I find myself feeling really competitive about my challenge. The competition is tonight in about an hour. I will be glad when it's over, especially since I won't win (again).

But it is interesting - I am not very competitive in normally competitive things like sports. But when it comes to something like programming, the "competition bit" gets flipped on hard. Programmers are a very competitive bunch, especially in that "I'm smarter than you" way ("My kung fu is the best"). It isn't a good trait, and I don't like how it makes me feel. Hence such ego-levelings are probably good for me.
